    Description

    1 rare vintage 1940s small, raw heavy struck brass cabochon medallion of Atlas, Titan of Astronomy, from Greek mythology. Round with rolled edge. 27mm (just over 1".) Deep struck with hollow back. Original ginger brass patina.
    In Greek myth, Atlas was a Titan, the predecessors of the Olympian gods, and who sided against the Olympians in war. They were defeated and Zeus condemned Atlas to forever hold up the sky on his shoulders from the western edge of the earth.
    Very high quality vintage heavy struck brass with excellent detail. Original vintage stamping, not newly made from old molds. These original old vintage pieces are getting very difficult to find.
